Rita Barakat/Emerald Creek Embossing Powder Fun!

Hello there! Today the Rita Barakat Design Team are sharing projects in a blog hop using the new embossing powders at Emerald Creek Crafts.
If you didn't arrive here from the beginning of the hop here is the order and links!

Be sure to join Rita and the team for Mixed Media Monday on September 3rd for the giveaway! Every comment along the hop is an entry to win a set of 4 of these amazing powders!

For my project I have created a fun little tag using one of Rita's die cuts and an adorable wooden mushroom embellishment from Plaid.
The embossing powder I chose is Mermaid Fin.
.

The tag was painted with white gesso and once it was dry a woodgrain background stamp was used to create the background. It was stamped in green ink and then embossed with clear powder and heat set. A few spritzes of blue spray ink were added.

After coating the mushroom in gesso, I applied embossing ink followed by the Mermaid Fin powder and set with my heat tool. Just look at all that beautiful glitter!
The fairy die-cut was adhered using foam adhesive squares by Scrapbook Adhesives.

A big blue ribbon and sentiment stickers were the final touch!

Fun Fabric Painting with Rita Barakat and Plaid!

Hello everyone! Have you tryed Fabric Creations™ fabric paint from Plaid®? They are great!
I found these adorable little canvas bags in my craft stash and tryed them out using some of the amazing Rita Barakat Designs stamps!
These paints come in 24 beautiful colors to choose from. I used the following for this project:
Black
Nude
African Violet
Fruit Punch
Navy
Aqua
Stamps used:
Harlequin Stencil

I stamped the Reflections stamp onto the bag using black archival ink before painting and then used a stencil and sponge technique around her.

For the cloud I applied the fabric paint directly to the stamp and stamped onto the bag.

This was a super fun way to decorate these bags. Now I can put treats in them and add them to packages!
Be sure to join Rita on Mondays live on Facebook 8pm CST!

Hi There! If you have arrived here from Rita Barakat's blog your on your way to a super fun hop!!
For my project I would like to share with you this fun art journal page!!

I love just sitting down with my art journal and some products and letting my imagination take over. It is so relaxing! This page started with a background created using Rita's Zen Doodle Cloud Stamp from Art Foamies.
After stamping I used watercolor pencils by Tonic to finish the background.
I added the sweet face using Rita's "So You Say You Can't Draw" Stencil and then watercolored her as well.

This week Rita Barakat Designers are doing a spotlight on Tonic Studious USA!
We are kicking off with a blog hop and Mixed Media Monday tonight at 8pm CST!
Make sure to check out everyone’s posts and comment, as each comment is a chance to win!

We have 5 new stamps in the Technique Junkies line!

Now hop on over to Karen Jile's blog!
Thanks so much for joining us! Happy Hopping!
I have created a fun card using the Princess Mermaid and Seagrass stamps!

The mermaid image was stamped onto watercolor cardstock using black archival ink. It was coated with clear embossing powder and heat set. This is a technique I use for water coloring stamped images. Caran D'ache watercolor pencils were then used to color the image. The seagrass stamped images were stamped in green and clear embossed before adhering them using foam dots. The large bubble was cut using a 2" circle punch, distressed and adhered using foam dots. Finally the mermaid image was added!

Isn't she just adorable? I love the whimsy of this fun stamp!

Mermaid Album Cover for Blank Page Muse Stamps

Hello, and thank you for visiting my page today! Blank Page Muse Stamps has a new challenge every month and this months theme is "Let's go to beach". Since I am heading to the beach for a few days with a friend this month I wanted to create an album to put pictures from my trip in. What is better than a mermaid for a beach themed project?
I wanted her to appear as though she is under water so I also used bubbles on my background.
To enter our monthly challenge for a chance to win some awesome prizes please click on the picture and follow the link below!

I used the following stamps from Blank Page Muse:
(Click on pictures below to be directed to the Blank Page Muse online store.)

Tallest grass 1 3/4" by 3"Medium wavy grass 2 1/2" by 2"Small beachgrass 1 1/2" by 2"
These stamps and many more are available online HERE.

Other products used:
blank album cover
white gesso
clear glue
Embossing ink pad
Black Archival Ink pad
Clear embossing powder
Distress Inks
Art Anthology Ice Spray
Watercolor pencils
Dew Drops
Stickers (shells and lettering)

Easy steps to create this project:
1. Apply a coat of white gesso on the album cover and allow it to dry.
2. Use the water drops stamp randomly using embossing ink.
3. Apply clear embossing powder to the water drops (bubbles) and heat set with a heat tool.
4. Use a blue distress ink to add color. I used a combination of Mermaid Lagoon and Salty Ocean.
5.Spray with water to activate the distress ink and move it around. Dry with heat tool.
6. Use black archival ink to stamp the mermaid. Add clear embossing powder to her and heat set.
7. Stamp the larger tropical plant stamp in a green color to use as a guide.
8. Use watercolor pencils to highlight the mermaid and plant. (the plant will appear to be watercolored by going over the stamp with watercolor pencil.)
9. Add blue Dew Drops using a strong clear glue.
10.Spray with the Art Anthology ice spray or other iridescent spray ink.
11. Add stickers as desired.
