Sin City Stamps: Cute Fairy Cards..One Stamp two ways

Hi  Friends! I want to share two whimsical fairy cards I created using Sin City Stamps! For this project One stamp was used two ways to create two completely different looks! The stamp used is from the Anime Fairies & Baby Dragons set. Other products used: Chalk ink stamps paper flowers script stamp cardstock in various colors black blank cards and envelopes bling stones watercolor pencils shimmery spray ink (used instead of water) clear embossing powder For this set of cards I used the little fairy once and then watercolored it in. The other was stamped over a script stamp. The fairy stamp was stamped using three different inks. The wings were stamped with chalk ink in Spring Pansy. The body was done in chalk ink in Turquoise Gem.The upper body and hair was also a chalk ink in Sycamore Green. Both were stamped on white watercolor paper.
A script stamp and black archival ink were stamped over the fairy. Be sure that your chalk ink is completely dry before this step to prevent any smudging. Cut off as much excess as you like from around the outside. Distress around edges with a distressing tool. Use chalk ink again around edges in the same colors used for fairy.
Next use the same script stamp on a piece of colored cardstock (green for this project). Choose two other colors of cardstock for layering that coordinate with your stamped image and one another. Cut each a bit larger and then stack together using sticky tape or a tape runner. Then adhere the stack to either black cardstock cut to size or use a premade blank card as I did.
Add a sentiment stamp and some paper flowers plus a little bling. I also used the envelope and stamped the same fairy image and sentiment.
For the water colored version, the same steps are used with the added step of water coloring your stamped image. Also the black card was stamped with the script stamp as a background using the same chalk inks. And there you have it! A lovely set of cards to show how one stamp can be used two different ways to create two looks. Of course there are endless possibilities in the world of stamping! these are just two of my favorites! I hope you enjoyed this project and tutorial!

Create your own flair with Sin City Stamps!

Hi, Sin City Fans! I am up today on the blog to show you how you can create some adorable flair embellishments using your Sin City Stamps and a few products!

For those of you that are not familiar with flair, they are usually buttons that can purchase to place as an embellishment on your mixed media and paper crafting projects. In this tutorial, I will show you how you can make some of your own unique ones!!

For these I used the following Sin City Stamps:

Anime Fairies & Baby Dragons Fantasy Art Rubber Stamp Sheet Set here..

Fairies & Blossoms 2 Rubber Stamp Set here.

Love Of Butterflies Rubber Stamp Set here.

They are available individually as well in the online store.

Here is how I made them:
Start out with large buttons. These are approximate 2X2 inches. Using a small palette knife fill holes with modeling paste. Let dry and sand off any bumps left. Paint a layer of white gesso and dry.

Drip ink (I used Art Anthology Minx Ink here) on buttons and spray with water lightly. Move color around to spread and create a "watercolor effect" Continue with a couple more colors drying in between.
Your buttons will look similar to the ones pictured above.
Next, choose the stamps you would like as images and make sure they fit how you like. Use black archival ink to stamp to button. While ink is wet cover with clear embossing powder and shake off excess. Activate embossing powder slowly with heat tool.

For the next step, you can choose to either keep the plain image as pictured above or choose to fill in the image with color as pictured below.
For these, I used watercolor pencils and water brushes to color my images of dragon baby and pixie.
In the end, I wanted, even more, color so I let dry and then added several hues of distress inks to mine. Once the ink was dry I coated with decoupage glue and sealer.
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and that I have inspired you to get creative and make some flair of your own!!

Mermaid Advice Wedding Layout for Yvonne Blair Designs

Hello there! My daughter recently married and honeymooned on the Oregon Coast and it was absolutely beautiful! A day that was supposed to be drizzley and dreary turned out to be sunny and dry at just the right time! This stamp in my mind just suited the occasion and inspired this entire layout along with the beautiful day in the picture!
The stamp featured can be purchased at Impression Obsession here.
Click on image above to go directly to stamp for purchase.
To Prepare the stamp I used a trio of versaMagic chalk ink in hues of aqua and blue and then embossed with iridescent embossing powder.

For this layout, I started with a 12X12 sheet of patterned cardstock in an ombre look. Next, I added a thin layer of white gesso with an old card, scraping it to keep thin. I used an Art Anthology stencil with texture paste and then added various ink colors in hues of blue and teal. I used embossing ink and a bubble stamp to create the bubbles with an iridescent embossing powder by Lindy's. I added splatters of the same blue inks as well as a copper and white. I built up my image with various coordinated papers torn on the edges. I added a fussy cut octopus, some netting painted with white acrylic, shells, a couple of tags with jute string, a mermaid tail hand molded, flowers, and some microbeads!
All of the stamps created by Yvonne are amazing and every one of them inspires something!I hope this project has inspired you to go get some and create something beautiful!!

Imagine

Today I would love to share a layout I created and titled "Imagine". I love blues and browns together and I love to mix them with texture and distressing to create a "vintage" look as I did here. Enjoy!
For this layout, I used a lot of techniques to create textures and movement. The background started as a grid lined cardstock. I stamped with watermarking clear stamp and  a fern-like stamp and heat embossed clear. I then used  Distress ink in Vintage Photo with sponge aplicator to bring out the texture. Next, I used Art Anthology's Blocked stencil and texture paste (mixed with Art Anthology Waimea bay Colorations spray) to add another layer of texture. I used a mix of corrugated and Kaisercraft papers cut into circles, G45 papers cut into strips, and chippies from my stash. I used Art Anthology Blue Topaz Gemstone paint to add more color to plain silver paper straws. Prima flowers and mini art stones were also adhered. For a little more of the dark blue to contrast I stamped the same fern-like stamp with a chalk ink. Splatters of white acrylic, Art Anthology Minx in Stargazer and Art Anthology Colorations Sprays in Waimea Bay ,Warm, Indigo, and Timeless were added all around focal. For some glitz I added some bling stones in greens and blues.

clear embossing powder
paper straws
